What the selected answers mean — October 30, 2026
Our retrospective analysis, not official hints. These explanations discuss the selected examples; they do not establish official acceptance or scores for alternatives. The linked reveal records the official selection; the independent Replay answer pool may use a different scope.
Find a valid example in this category: sport where athletes do flips or somersaults.
Selected answer: Course landaise. The movement must belong to the sport's actual practice: gymnastics, diving and trampoline events are obvious starting points. A celebration after scoring does not by itself make every sport a flipping sport. Course landaise is a traditional competitive activity in south-western France, with jumpers performing acrobatic movements over cattle. Its federation describes competitions involving both dodgers and jumpers, with figures assessed by judges. Replay distinguishes documented disciplines and familiar alternate names rather than assuming that every possible stunt qualifies. See the French federation's explanation of the competition.
Find a valid example in this category: city whose name starts with the word Los, Las, La, Le, El or The.
Selected answer: La Ciotat. Read the first word, not just the first few letters. Los Angeles and Las Vegas begin with complete qualifying words; a name such as Lahore does not begin with the separate word La. La Ciotat is a coastal municipality in southern France whose name satisfies the same spelling rule. Its tourist office documents the historic centre, harbour and local attractions. Replay uses reviewed place names and explains its urban-place boundary. Common abbreviations can help enter a qualifying city, but an abbreviation is not evidence for a different city's spelling. See the official La Ciotat visitor guide.
Find a valid example in this category: Name something used to grip or pick things up.
Selected answer: Claw of Archimedes. Gripping or picking up can involve a small hand tool, a body part or large lifting equipment. Tongs and tweezers are useful everyday examples; the object need not look like a human hand. The Claw of Archimedes is the selected historical answer. Ancient accounts describe an iron grapnel and lever arrangement used against ships at Syracuse, although the exact machine has been reconstructed in different ways. Replay separates documented gripping uses from objects that merely push or cut. See the collected ancient accounts of Archimedes' Claw.
Find a valid example in this category: non-human character from Star Wars, the MCU, or Lord of the Rings.
Selected answer: Jaxxon. The question asks for a named character, not just a species such as elf or Wookiee. Each fictional setting has its own boundary: a character from Marvel comics alone is not automatically in the MCU. Jaxxon belongs to Star Wars and is a green-furred Lepi whose appearances include comics. The official Star Wars history of the character helps establish both his identity and the relevant franchise. Replay reviews species and identity, accepting familiar character aliases while explaining how droids, non-human peoples and other beings are treated. See StarWars.com's introduction to Jaxxon.
Find a valid example in this category: nail care product or tool (types, not brands).
Selected answer: Tea bag. Think of product and tool categories rather than company names: nail polish, a nail file and cuticle oil are everyday examples. The selected answer, tea bag, refers to using a small piece of its material as a temporary repair patch on a split nail. That documented use explains why an unexpected household item can fit. It does not make every tea-related object a nail-care tool. Replay includes reviewed manicure and pedicure supplies with common regional spellings and short forms. See this Watsons explanation of the tea-bag repair method.
Find a valid example in this category: way to contact someone (methods, not brands/apps).
Selected answer: Rocket mail. A method describes how a message reaches someone, rather than naming an app that offers the method. Email, a telephone call, a letter and an in-person conversation are familiar possibilities. Rocket mail is an unusual historical example: the Smithsonian documents experiments carrying postal items by rocket or missile, including the American 1959 missile-mail demonstration. An experiment counts as a documented method without implying it became a normal postal service. Replay groups common terms for the same method and includes supported historical communication techniques. See the National Postal Museum's missile-mail account.
Find a valid example in this category: fast food chain that operates in more than one country.
Selected answer: Coffee-Bike. The international condition matters: several branches within one country are not enough. The chain must have documented operations in at least two countries, and an announced expansion is not the same as an operating location. Coffee-Bike is the selected example; its own press information describes an international mobile-coffee franchise. This also explains why the reviewed scope includes quick-service coffee businesses alongside familiar burger and chicken chains. Store networks can change, so Replay records the date of its source review rather than promising permanent coverage. See Coffee-Bike's company press information.
